Melzine Mae Pierce, 83, of Southport, died March 30 at her residence.
She was born in Rockland on Jan. 25, 1926, a daughter of Melzar and Bessie (Myrick) McCaslin.
She attended Rockland schools and graduated from Rockland High School in 1944. She graduated from Colby College in 1948 and was a teacher of Latin and English for 30 years. She was employed at Higgins Classical Institute in Charleston, Milo High School, Presque Isle High School and from 1959 to 1979 she was the Librarian at Morse High School in Bath. She married Douglas N. Pierce in 1963. They made their home in Woolwich for many years and moved to Southport in 1982. She had been employed part time at the Newagen Post Office for a number of years.
She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma.
She was predeceased by her husband, Douglas N. Pierce on July 5, 1998.
There are no services. Burial will be private at Oak Grove Cemetery in Bath at a later date.
