Merleen F. Morang, 83, of Woolwich, died March 29 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.
She was born in Bath on March 27, 1930, a daughter of Merle H. and Eleanor A. (Hathorn) Jameson. She attended Bath schools and graduated from Morse High School. She attended a secretarial college and married Henry C. Wright. She was employed at Carson’s Restaurant in Boothbay and Nichols Restaurant in Wiscasset. She was then employed at Sylvania Electric in Waldoboro and later at New Meadows Inn Restaurant in West Bath as a hostess.
On May 3, 1981 she married Hollis C. Morang. Merleen was then employed at Kenny’s Country Store in Woolwich and later at Yellowfront Grocery Store in Wiscasset.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Woolwich and the VFW Auxiliary in Bath.
Merleen enjoyed sewing, knitting, puzzles and her passion was to spend time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Hollis C. Morang; son, Mark Wright; and daughter, Roxanne Wright.
She is survived by son, Gregory Wright and wife Maude of Boothbay; daughters, Cherylee Washburn and husband Karl of Freeport and Lori Morang and husband Matt Allen of Rochester, N.Y.; brother, Keith Jameson of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Celebration of her life 2 p.m., on Sun., June 9, at First Baptist Church in Woolwich. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Woolwich.
