Merrill Burton Bryer, 69, formerly of Boothbay, passed away Dec. 22 at his home in Whitefield.
He was born in Boothbay, April 26, 1937, a son of Harland B. Bryer and Sylvia Poore Bryer. He grew up in Boothbay and graduated from Boothbay Harbor High School.
He was a clam digger and carpenter throughout his working life. He lived with and took care of his mother, until she died in 1996.
He moved to Whitefield and was taken care of by his close friends, John Thomas and family, and Gary and Wendy Waltz and family.
He was a good natured, and hard working man who lived simply. He loved horses.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Beatrice Orne and Marjorie Williams.
He is survived by his close friends and caretakers, John Thomas and family, and Gary and Wendy Waltz and family of Whitefield; brother, Clarence M. Bryer of Maine; sisters, Louise Poole of Rockport, Mass., Mabel Fowler of Ipswich, Mass., and Priscilla McMahan of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service 10 a.m., Sat., Dec. 30 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Boothbay.
