Michael E. Rundall, 67, of Nobleboro, died unexpectedly at his home May 3. Michael loved his family and music, and enjoyed the people he met living in Maine for the past 14 years.
He was embraced by his wife’s large, extended family, and cherished these relationships. Michael was born on July 1, 1942 in El Monte, Cal. He spent his entire life performing as a professional musician, but also worked as a cosmetologist, an airplane mechanic for McDonnell Douglas, owner of McKelvey’s Tavern in North Bend, Ore. and as a counselor at Mobius, Inc.
In his early years, Michael and his country band, Desperado, played in renowned venues such as the Palamino and Crazy Horse Salon in Los Angeles, Cal. It was not uncommon for artists to sit in with the band from time to time, including country star Vince Gill. Michael’s first love was the blues, and in the early 90s he opened for blues legend Buddy Guy at a performance in Coos Bay, Ore.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Annette Weeks Rundall; daughter, Sarah Rundall Weaver; son-in-law, Matthew “Jed” Weaver; granddaughter, Gwendolyn Weaver; and grandson, Brady Weaver.
There will be a gathering to celebrate Michael’s life at a future date.
