Michael Lawrence Ray, 43, of Damariscotta, died unexpectedly Oct. 4.
He was born July 19, 1963, in Damariscotta, where he lived for most of his life.
Michael was a carpenter, a former volunteer firefighter, and an avid fly fisherman and outdoorsman. He loved hiking, camping, canoeing, and especially, being with his children. He enjoyed music and playing the guitar, and would travel many miles for a contradance. He had a great sense of humor, and love of adventure. Michael was a wonderfully caring person, always willing to help out friends and family in need. He will be remembered for his great courage, generosity and kindness.
He is survived by son, Wyatt Ray, of Nobleboro; daughter, Tricia Ray, of Wyoming; parents Malcolm and Carol Ray of Damariscotta; sisters Elizabeth Bridges and Joan Ray; brother Christopher Ray; grandparents Phyllis Ray, and Milton and Mildred Plummer; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He will be sadly missed by his family and his many friends.
A private memorial service will be held.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Strong Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Damariscotta.
