Michael Richard McKay, 24, of Edgecomb, went home to be with the Lord on July 1.
He was born in Damariscotta on the Fourth of July, 1987, the only son of Michael and Jennifer (Kelley) McKay.
He attended Edgecomb Eddy School and graduated from Wiscasset High School in 2005, where he was co-vice president of his senior class with lifelong best friend Mikey Snyder.
He was employed in various fields including Simpson’s Seafood of Wiscasset, Pro Installation of Woolwich, and most recently Northeast Insulation Services of Pittsfield as a mechanical insulator.
Always quick with a joke and a smile, Michael loved spending time with his family, friends, and his dog Rambo. He loved animals, the outdoors, and was an avid Patriots fan.
He was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was always there in anyone’s time of need and could be counted on to bring a laugh or smile to your face.
He was predeceased by his grandfathers, Alfred T. McKay in 2009, and Richard A. Kelley in 1990.
He is survived by wife Vanessa (Fowler) McKay; parents, Michael and Jennifer; adored sister, Nicole Kristine and fiancé Patrick Wenners; nephews, Connor Michael and Spencer Thomas; grandmothers, Geneva (Moody) McKay and Carolyn (Randall) Kelley; and special cousins, Donnie McKay, and Jaelyn and Jason Dennison; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and The Good Ole’ Boys.
Funeral service was July 7 at the Woolwich-Wiscasset Baptist Church. A gathering of family and friends followed in Edgecomb.
