Mildred Engstrom, 80, of Jefferson, passed away on March 28 at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center, Glenridge, following a long illness.
She was born in Whitefield on Dec. 17, 1926, a daughter of the late Earl and Annie (Plummer) Glidden.
Mrs. Engstrom was a graduate of Union High School and had been employed by the State of Maine at the Augusta Mental Health Institute for 23 years.
She was predeceased by a brother, Buster Glidden, and a sister, Virginia Howard.
Mrs. Engstrom is survived by her two sons, Kirt Engstrom and wife Laurie of Jefferson, and Kraig Engstrom, Sr. and wife Paula of Whitefield; brother, Gordon Glidden of Pittston; sisters, Doris Lailor of Waldoboro, and Mary Bowman of Litchfield; grandchildren, Kraig Engstrom, Jr. and Krissy Engstrom; step-grandchildren, Terra Basil, Chris Ward, Trevor Ward and Felecia Ward; and several nieces and nephews.
At her request, there will be no public visiting hours.
A graveside service will be held later this spring in Rest Haven Cemetery, Windsor.
Arrangements are under the care of Plummer Funeral Home, 983 Ridge Rd., Rt. 32, Windsor.
