Mrs. Carrie Tingue, 79, of Waldoboro, passed away Nov. 24.
Carrie was born March 6, 1930 in Columbia, S.C., a daughter of Harold E. and Blanche K. Medbery. Shortly after the family moved to Charlotte, N.C. where Carrie graduated from Central High School in 1948.
Shortly after graduation she embarked on a career as a singer. She sang for a number of bands through the 50s and had a radio show in Charlotte, N.C. Carrie was offered a singing job in New York City and moved there in the late 50s. After turning down the job she went to work for the Methodist Ministry where she met Art and they married on Aug. 19, 1960. They later settled in Chester, N.J. and Carrie went to work for Diamond Shamrock. After many years she left and went to work for AT&T.
Carrie had a great gift for making friends and entertained them with stories of her singing career. Her and Art’s passion for the outdoors led them on many trips to Maine. They loved Maine so much they left Chester, N.J. upon retirement and moved to Waldoboro.
She was predeceased in death by her husband, Arthur Tingue.
Carrie is survived by her sister, Blanche M. Sims of Charlotte, N.C., and three nephews and a niece.
Celebration of Carrie’s life 11 a.m., Thurs., Dec. 3 at St. Paul’s Union Chapel, Dutch Neck Rd., Waldoboro, with Rev. Peter Jenks officiating.
Should friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the St. Paul’s Preservation Fund.
