Muriel Ritchie Havenstein, 85, of Nobleboro, passed away peacefully March 1. She was born in Manhattan, May 4, 1923 and lived most of her earliest years in New York City.
A renowned pianist known as the Midcoast Monster, Muriel began playing professionally at the age of 16.
She is survived by her husband of more than 60 years, Robert Havenstein of Nobleboro, a daughter Christine Havenstein of Brunswick, daughter June Gallant of Nobleboro, a son, Bobby Havenstein of Nobleboro, grandchildren Walton Kinney of Trenton, Erin Henry of Norwalk, Conn. and great-grandson Logan Henry.
During her final illness, Muriel was lovingly cared for by Debbie Sanborn.
At the family’s request, a memorial service will be held this summer to benefit a musical scholarship being established in Muriel’s name at Lincoln Academy.
