Nancy Holloway, 55, died Nov. 18 surrounded by her family and friends after a brief battle with cancer.
Born in Geneva, Switzerland as a U.S. citizen, she was a graduate of Long Meadow High School in Massachusetts and attended Northeastern University for two years where she received an Associates Degree.
She moved from Nantucket Island to Camden in her mid 20s. It was in Camden where she met the love of her life, her husband of 28 years, Robert Holloway. They built their first house in the woods of Warren, where she loved spending all her time and she soon found her love of life was centered there. In 1987 they welcomed their first and only daughter, Rebecca Holloway.
She worked in various professions, but the one that brought her the most joy was working with children and the elderly. While working at Quarry Hill in Camden as a CNA, she was able to use her skills and talents as a caregiver to residents that she worked with. This brought her much joy and happiness to know she made an impact on the lives of others.
She enjoyed flowers, bird watching, knitting, and being an avid reader, but most of all a loving mother and devoted wife.
Nancy was predeceased by her father, Louis Rosheger and mother, Suzanne Todd.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Holloway of Warren; daughter, Rebecca Holloway of Warren; father-in-law, Howard Holloway and mother-in-law, Shirley Holloway (mom), both of Warren; sister, Suzy Warner of Bristol; nieces, Cassandra Warner of New Harbor, and Chelsea Bowers of Nobleboro; nephew, Kevin Montoya of Union; future son-in-law, Ronald Teele III of Warren; and many co-workers and friends, including Linda Perkins of Washington, Patricia Wood of Warren, Deirdre Talberg of Union, Sharon Carlson of Waldoboro, and Sally Magee of Morrill.
Visitation and memorial service 6-8 p.m., Mon., Nov. 24 at the Strong Funeral Home, 612 Main St., Damariscotta.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Gary’s House, 97 State St., Portland, ME 04101 (a home-away-from-home for families and individuals with loved ones receiving medical treatment).
Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Strong Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Damariscotta.
