Nancy J. Jones, 96, of Damariscotta, passed away on the evening of Oct. 3 at the Cove’s Edge Nursing Facility in Damariscotta. Born in Boston, Mass. on Aug. 13, 1915, she was the daughter of Abraham and Elizabeth (Ramsland) Jacobsen.
Nancy grew up and graduated high school in Brighton, Mass. in 1933. She then attended Boston Clerical Business School and after graduation went to work for Goodyear Tire Company for several years.
She and her husband, the late Newton Jones, spent many years in Andover, Mass. before moving to Nobleboro in 1977. She became very active in the First Baptist Church of Nobleboro, and for several years she played the organ there.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Newton J. Jones in 1992.
She is survived by her close friends, Elaine and Odway Simmons of Nobleboro; as well as their children, Mecca Sue of Maryland and Henry of Nobleboro.
Service 11 a.m., Tues., Nov. 8 at the Faith Baptist Church in Newcastle, with the Rev. David O’Donnell officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest with her husband in the Dunbar Cemetery in Nobleboro.
