Nancy Marie (Solomon) Ripley passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Country Manor Nursing Home in Coopers Mills on June 7, just 13 days shy of her 70th birthday.
Nancy was born on June 20, 1944 to Louie Joseph II and Gladys Mae (McLaughlin) Solomon in Gardiner. She attended a variety of grammar schools due to her father’s job and graduated from Erskine Academy in 1966. She married the love of her life Kenneth Ripley on Oct. 8, 1966 in Coopers Mills. They were blessed with four children and five grandchildren.
She was a member of the Kings Mills Ladies Auxiliary and was employed at Lipmann’s, Kirschner’s and until her second heart attack and bypass surgery, she worked in the bakery at Augusta Wal-Mart. She was a big family person; she loved holidays where the family got together, because she could spend time with them all at once. She cherished her children and loved to tell her grandchildren stories and spoil them with stuffed animals.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband of 34 years in 2000; son, Josiah at birth in 1978; grandson, Zachary Michaud in 1993; brothers, Joe, Stephen, and Matthew; and sister, Anna.
She is survived by daughters, Karen Nadine, and Iva Marion and husband Shane; son, Kenneth Earl II and wife Nikki; grandchildren, Shane II, Ryan, Emmalee and Mackenzie, all of Whitefield; siblings, Jimmy Solomon and Anita Newell of Whitefield, Lorna Peaslee of Windsor, Christine Solomon of Gardiner, Andy Solomon of Milo, Mike Solomon of Augusta, and Annette Webber of Florida; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Per Nancy’s request service and burial for close family and friends will take place 3 p.m., Sat. June 14 at Whitefield Cemetery on Rt. 218 in Whitefield. There will be a potluck celebration of life reception at Kenny and Nikki’s immediately following.
