Norman C. Chase, 95, passed away on the evening of Nov. 3 at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta. Born on Feb. 9, 1917 in Chamberlain, he was the son of Leverett and Mary (Reeves) Chase.
Norman was born and raised in Chamberlain and attended Bristol schools. After graduating from Bristol High School in 1934, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served honorably. Upon his return from the service, he went to work for a few years at Bath Iron Works.
After getting done at the Iron Works, he started what was a long career in carpentry and fishing. He built his Long Cove Point cottage as well as his own lobster boat which he fished from for years. He enjoyed working in the woods and had over 100 acres which, with his own sawmill, kept him quite busy.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Virginia (Hanna) Chase, in 2005; son, Norman L. Chase; and grandson, Norman L. Chase Jr.
He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Chase Farrin of South Bristol; daughter-in-law, Jean Chase; five grandchildren; as well as several great- and great-great-grandchildren.
He will be laid to rest with his beloved wife, privately, in the Ocean Hill Cemetery in Chamberlain.
