Norman L. Chase, 70, of Bristol, passed away at his home, on the evening of March 23, with his loving family present. The son of Norman and Virginia (Hanna) Chase, he was born in Damariscotta, Oct. 25, 1938 and attended Bristol schools.
A man of many talents, Norman held several positions throughout his working life. These included his work at Round Top Farms, L.A., Hanna and Sons Well Drilling, U.S. Mail delivery for 19 years, owner/operator of Pemaquid L.P. Gas Company, firewood production, snow plowing, working at both Chinchette Brothers and locally at Master’s Machine, but the job he enjoyed most was being on the water, at low tide, digging clams.
His several hobbies included genealogy, snowmobiling, and baseball and being a licensed ham radio operator. A man of strong will, he loved his dog Anna, and most especially his loving wife and family.
Norman leaves his wife of 54 years, Jean M. (Eugley) Chase; son, Stephen L. Chase and wife Janet; daughters, Deborah J. Gilbert and husband Timothy, Jo-Anne C. Blomquist and husband Paul, all of Bristol, and Tammy L. Cheney and husband Paul of North Newcastle; father, Norman C. Chase of Chamberlain; sister, Barbara S. Chase of South Bristol; daughter-in-law, Terry Chase Mooers of Flower Mound, Tex.; grandchildren, Clinton K. Gilbert, Nicholas J. Gilbert, Carrie J. Gilbert, Amanda L. Chase, Danielle C. Nelms, Rebekah S. Chase, Tara N. Chase, Angela B. Chase, Joshua P. Cheney, and Sylviann L. Cheney; and great-grandchildren, Parker J. Gilbert, Keaton T. Gilbert and Logan W. Willey.
He was predeceased by his son, Norman, Jr. in 2001; and mother, Virginia in 2005.
Visitation and service for his family was held at the Strong Funeral Home, Damariscotta. He will be laid to rest, with his son, at the Bristol Mills Cemetery, in the warmth of later spring.
