Otto J. Reinecke Jr., 92, of Boothbay Harbor, died June 8 in the Gregory Wing at St. Andrews Village in Boothbay Harbor. He was born Nov. 12, 1920 in St. Paul, Minn. to Otto and Leila Kerr Reinecke. He grew up in St. Paul, Minn. and attended local schools.
He joined the Coast Guard and was stationed in Boothbay Harbor. He was a veteran of WWII. He has been in the Boothbay Region since 1955. He worked as a gas service attendant at Watts Esso. He also worked as Sample’s Shipyard in the tin shop. He retired in 1992.
He was a member of the Charles E. Sherman V.F.W. Post and the American Legion. He was an avid reader, and enjoyed fishing and traveling around especially to Ocean Point.
He was predeceased by his wife, Zora Greenleaf.
He is survived by sons, David Reinecke and wife Nadeen of Denver, Col., and Leigh Reinecke and wife Vicki of Boothbay Harbor; daughter, Sharon and husband Ken Gaecklein of Edgecomb; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held 1 p.m., Fri., June 14 at Oceanview Cemetery in Boothbay. Rev. Ami Sawtelle will officiate.
