Parnell Pearson, 66, of North Charleston, S.C., succumbed to injuries sustained at his home March 8. He had been airlifted to Doctors Hospital, in Augusta, Ga., where he was treated at the Joseph M. Still Burn Center.
Parnell was born in Damariscotta on Dec. 19, 1946 to Kathleen Fuller and Carl R.H. Pearson Sr. He attended local schools in Newcastle and graduated from Lincoln Academy with the class of 1966, receiving his honors stole after completing Lincoln’s first ever offered Technical Course.
Parnell served in the U.S. Air Force from August 1968 through August 1972. A Munitions Specialist, he served his term at posts in England and Egypt. His later employment included Bath Iron Works, Wright-Pierce Architects in Topsham, and Hunt Homes in Damariscotta. After leaving the Newcastle area, Parnell moved to South Carolina, where he was employed as a custom woodworker and cabinetmaker. His work can be seen in many homes in Edisto Beach and the Greater Charleston area, including the home of former Senator Ernest Hollings.
He was predeceased by his parents and brother Stephen.
Parnell is survived by his brothers, Robert C. Pearson of St. Petersburg, Fla., Carl R.H. Pearson Jr. of Sebring, Fla., and Henry Pearson of Nineveh, Ind.; sisters, Karen Pearson York of Damariscotta, Rebecca Pearson of Meriden, Conn., and Kerstin Pearson Corson of Howland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private burial services will be held in Dunbar Cemetery, Nobleboro at the convenience of the family.
Cremation services were handled by Legacy Funeral Services Provider and McNeill Funeral Home in Georgia.
