Pastor Alan Kipp, 67, of Pink Hill, N.C., died Feb. 11 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville, N.C.
Born Dec. 4, 1940, in Sharon, Conn., to Richard and Elizabeth Kipp, he had resided in Pink Hill, N.C. for the last 18 months, moving there from Dresden.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1958-1961 with a deployment to Korea.
Prior to retiring in August of 2006, he was Senior Pastor at Dresden Community Church in Dresden for 26 years. He demonstrated his love for God by serving the community with a heart of compassion for all people. He also had a soft spot for stray cats. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery and skeet shooting.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Pastor Carol A. Kipp of Pink Hill, N.C.; sons, Michael A. Kipp and wife Jenny of Dresden, Jeffrey W. Kipp and wife Erin of Portsmouth, N.H., and Richard B. Kipp of Westbrook; grandchildren, Matthew A. Kipp of Bristol, Conn., Benjamin Kipp of Portsmouth, N.H., and Julie Kipp of Dresden; several step-grandchildren; and sister, Sandra Kipp of Puntagorda, Fla.
Visiting hours 6-9 p.m., Sat., Feb. 16 at Kincer Funeral Home, 130 Pleasant St., Richmond.
Celebration of Life 2 p.m., Sun., Feb. 17 at Dresden Community Church, 633 Gardiner Rd., Dresden.
Burial with military honors 1 p.m., Tues., Feb. 19 at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Rd., Augusta.
