Patricia Anne Devine, 80, of Boothbay, died at St. Andrews Hospital on Aug. 18 after a long struggle with cancer. Her final days were spent at peace.
She was born April 10, 1932 in Queens, Astoria, N.Y. to parents Herbert and Margaret Schoening. After her father’s unfortunate death by drowning 10 days before her birth, she was raised by her mother and step-father, Barney Sites, U.S. Navy, in San Diego, Cal. She was a graduate of St. Didicus Catholic School and San Diego High School. She met and married her first husband with whom she had three children. One child, Becky, died at an early age secondary to surgical complications while the family was living in Idaho.
Following a divorce, she and her two remaining children moved back to San Diego where she met and fell in love with Robert C. Devine of Quincy, Mass. They were married in February 1960 and had three children. Their union lasted 52 years.
She was instrumental in assisting her husband in the ownership and management of four McDonald’s restaurants in the Houston, Tex. area. She actively participated in Little League with her sons, and was her daughter’s troop leader for the Girl Scouts of America. Upon their retirement in 1994, she and her husband moved to Maine, first residing at Signal Point in Boothbay Harbor before moving into her final home, a converted hay barn on Back River Road in Boothbay.
She is survived by her husband, Robert C.
