Patricia Emsley Bailey, 76, of Boothbay, died on Aug. 9 at her home on Sawyer’s Island with her daughter by her side.
The daughter of Ralph and Edythe Ellsworth, she grew up in Willoughby, Ohio. In 1968, Patricia and her husband, Robert M. Emsley, began spending summer vacations on Southport Island. Together, they purchased a cottage on Southport in 1978, returning every summer with their children, Brian and Brooke. Mr. Emsley passed away in 1983.
In 1985 she moved to Florida with her second husband, Guy Bailey. Together they traveled the world extensively, often inviting their children and families to accompany them. They had a summer home on Bailey Island and a winter home in Key Largo, Fla. For many years they cruised aboard their boat, Quayna, up and down the eastern seaboard. They later moved to Sawyer’s Island, where Mr. Bailey died in 2001.
Patricia was an accomplished artist, having attended Cleveland School of Art. She was a co-owner of Ellsworth Cabinet, Inc., a furniture manufacturing company in Willoughby, where her artistic talent and business acumen made her a very successful business woman.
In her later years, she enjoyed good times singing at the piano bar at Key Largo Anglers Club, where she and Guy had a winter home. Her quick wit and great sense of humor endeared her to her many friends.
She is survived by her son, Brian Emsley and wife Marilyn, of Strongsville, Ohio; daughter, Brooke Emsley-Greenleaf and husband James of Boothbay; granddaughters, Laura Emsley of Los Angeles, Cal. and Hailey Greenleaf of Boothbay; step children, Guy Bailey Jr. of Miami, Fla., John Bailey of Palm Beach, Fla., Susan Bailey-Coffey of Tampa, Fla. and Patricia Bailey Macy of Tampa, Fla., along with their spouses; and 10 step-grandchildren.
