Patricia Holmes, 62, of Boothbay, passed away on the morning of Jan. 19 at Central Maine Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was born July 19, 1945, to William Pennington and Eithel Harmon Dighton Pennington in Boothbay Harbor. Pat attended local schools.
She married Galen Holmes in 1964 and they made their home in Boothbay. She had many jobs doing domestic work, including Rocktide and private families. She also worked for the Freezer & Malpaque shrimp processing plants.
Pat loved being with her family, camping, picnicking, cooking, doing puzzles, traveling and visiting friends, and collecting bells. She was a very giving person and always thought of others before herself.
In 1973, Pat and Galen were blessed with a daughter, Crystal, and then two beautiful grandchildren whom she adored more than life.
Pat is predeceased by sisters, Edna Dillon of Tennessee, Alice Fletcher of Presque Isle, and Mary Pitcher of Boothbay Harbor; and brothers, Richard Dighton and Bill Dighton of Boothbay Harbor, and John Dighton of California.
She is sadly missed by her husband of 43 years, Galen Holmes of Boothbay; daughter, Crystal Hanley and husband Abe and their two children Faith and Mitchell, all of Gardiner; brothers, David Pennington and wife Barbara of Canton, Robert Dighton of Edgecomb, Earl Dighton and wife Patricia of Wiscasset, and Ernest Dighton and wife Nat of Damariscotta; and sisters, Dorothy Murphy of Washington, and Ella Kinney and husband Arden of Mapleton.
Celebration of Patricia’s life 1 p.m., Fri., Jan. 25 at Simmons Harrington and Hall Funeral Home, Rt. 27, Boothbay. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Boothbay.
