Patricia M. Bryant Woodbury, 32, of Newcastle, passed away Feb. 21 in her sleep at the home of her parents following a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Known by her family and friends as “Shashi”, she was born Aug. 20, 1975 in Damariscotta. Tricia grew up in Bristol Mills, attended Bristol Consolidated School and graduated from Lincoln Academy, class of 1993.
On Dec. 21, 1996, she married Fred Woodbury and together they made their home in Newcastle.
Before Tricia became ill, she worked for MBNA in Rockland for several years. When she was no longer able to work away from home, she found many delights at home, caring for her loving husband and children. One of her favorite pastimes was cooking, and she especially enjoyed watching cooking shows.
She had a wonderful way of lifting everyone’s spirits around her with her warm smile and infectious sense of humor. This was a gift she passed on to everyone who paid her a visit or saw her at the grocery store. She had a way of putting your mind at ease, just when you thought it should be the other way around.
Tricia enjoyed all the simple pleasures of life and made light of every situation, no matter how difficult. She never let the disease change her heart or who she was. She continued to enjoy the little things, even as she lay in bed unable to walk. She always looked for that silver lining and seemed to find a humorous side to everything. Her strength and courage will be an inspiration to all of us.
She is survived by her husband, Fred Woodbury of Newcastle; son, Derick Woodbury; daughter, Megan Woodbury; parents, Ralph and Tess Bryant of Bristol; brother, Jay Bryant and wife Alison of Walpole; sister-in-law, Crystal Bryant of Round Pond; in-laws, Tim and Caroline Woodbury of Newcastle; brother-in-law, Brian Woodbury and wife Mary of Jefferson; sister-in-law, Kate Poulin of Damariscotta; as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins whom she loved very much.
