Patricia (Patsy) Diana Fairservice, of Wiscasset, passed Dec. 31, 2012 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. She spent her final year in peace in the care of her loving family – Michael, Carolyn, Michael Jr. and his wife Donna. She was born in Biddeford on Dec. 27, 1930 to Albert and Diana Harmon of Hollis Center. She was one of six children.
Patsy married Stan Fairservice of Wiscasset on July 24, 1948. Patsy and Stan started a marine worm business in Wiscasset and operated it for 37 years. Patsy was a tireless worker, working seven days a week in the business for those many years before finally retiring.
In spite of the business demands, Patsy found time to follow her passion helping others. She enrolled in EMT courses and became one of the founders of the Wiscasset Ambulance Service. She was a leader and backbone on the service, taking shift after shift. Her enthusiasm spread and the ambulance service flourished. She touched hundreds of residents of Wiscasset, surrounding towns and visitors. Her skills as an EMT and leader were unprecedented.
Patsy lost her husband Stan on Feb. 4, 2011.
She is survived by her sons, Stan Fairservice Jr. and Michael Fairservice; daughter, Lori Allen; daughters-in-law, Jane, and Carolyn; son-in-law, John Allen; sister-in-law Polly; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
