Paul Lawrence Farrington, 75, of South China, died Feb. 5 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Waterville on Dec. 11, 1934, a son of the late Cecil and Hazel (Higgins) Farrington. Mr. Farrington was a graduate of Erskine Academy and Bates Business College. He was President of his class at the Dale Carnegie Course. He was co-founder of the South China Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star # 157, Dirigo Lodge and the Kora Temple. Mr. Farrington was the owner of Farrington’s Clothing and Footwear for many years. He was also an entrepreneur who enjoyed buying and selling antiques and collectables and was co-founder and Treasurer of Break of Day, Inc. The loves of his life were his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Farrington was predeceased by three brothers, Carroll, Carleton and Donald Farrington and a nephew, Timothy Farrington.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carmaleta (Wood) Farrington of South China; son, Bradley Paul Farrington of Albion; daughter, Kimberly Farrington Greenleaf and husband Murlyn “Bud” of Westport Island; brother, Mickey Farrington and wife Jane of South China; grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Greenleaf, Elizabeth Farrington, Jeffrey Farrington and Megan Farrington; great-grandchildren, Lance Daniel Owens and Kaylee Lynne Greenleaf; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
At his request, there will be no public visiting hours. Memorial service 3 p.m., Sat., Feb. 13 at South China Community Fellowship Church where members of the Masons will hold a wake service at 2:30 p.m.
