Paul Philip Bramhall Sr., 83, of Friendship, passed away on Feb. 3 at Cove’s Edge in Damariscotta.
Paul was born on Nov. 24, 1935 in Friendship to Philip Bramhall and Thelma (Simmons) Bramhall.
Paul attended local schools and was a graduate of Waldoboro High School. After high school he joined the Army where he served in Germany. On Oct. 5, 1968 he married Joyce Neal in Friendship and they were married 50 years. He worked at Bath Iron Works for 35 years until he retired. After BIW he was a sternman for his son Bill and grandson Chris on board of the Jericho Queen.
Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing, ice fishing, candle pin bowling and attending local fairs, particularly the Union and Windsor fairs. He was a member of the Advent Christian Church. He was also a long-time member of the Friendship Fire Department and when his health did not allow him to be as active, he would still go visit the department. He loved playing Santa Claus for the fire department. Paul was a selfless man and always put others first and he was always willing to lend a hand.
Paul was predeceased by his parents; as well as his brother, Roger Bramhall.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joyce (Neal) Bramhall of Friendship; sons, Bill Bramhall and wife Terry of Waldoboro, and Paul Bramhall Jr. of Lewiston; daughters, Cindy Thompson and husband Robert of Rockwood, Terry Anderson and husband Rick of Passadumkeag, and Carol Colburn and husband Tom of Friendship, sister, Rose Severson and husband Albert of Waldoboro; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of Paul’s life at 1 p.m., Sat., Feb. 23 at the Hahn Community Center, 31 Main St., Friendship.
