Pauline “Polly” Powell, 99, of the Pemaquid Trail, passed away on the morning of Nov. 10, 2019. She was the wife of the late Charles P. Powell, who passed away in 1995.
During WWII, she followed her husband to Panama and worked as a stenographer for the U.S. Navy.
She was born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia on Oct. 5, 1920 to Dorothy and Ralph Nichols. She grew up in Needham, Mass. and graduated from Needham High School in 1938. In 1942, she married, moved to Troy, N.Y., and then to Medway, Mass., where she raised four children.
While living in Sutton, Mass., she worked at Jordan Marsh Company in sales. In 1981, she and her husband moved to Maine. Polly was a member of the Congregational Church of Bristol and enjoyed crossword puzzles and painting.
She is survived by her son, Stephen Powell of New Hampshire; and daughter, Janice of Maine. She was predeceased by sons, Gregory Powell and Dennis Powell.
