Perley H. Bousquet, 92, of Waldoboro, died July 6 surrounded by his family at Cove’s Edge in Damariscotta.
He was born March 26, 1918 in Montpelier, Vt., a son of the late Homer and Florence E. (Jerd) Bousquet.
Mr. Bousquet graduated from Montpelier High School, a member of the class of 1938. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force for more than 22 years retiring in 1962 as a Chief Master Sergeant.
He then began a second career as a building contractor, building and renovating homes in the Cape area of Massachusetts. In 1979 he retired a second time to Maine where the “hunting and fishing was so good.” It was here he met the love of his life, Beverly Sykes and on Dec. 10, 1983 they were married.
Feeling he had “just one more house in him,” at 75 years old he built entirely, from top to bottom, their lovely home in Waldoboro which included a large workshop where he spent many enjoyable hours turning out wooden crafts items enjoyed by so many.
Mr. Bousquet was a member of the Soule-Shuman V.F.W. Post 4525 in Waldoboro; Bourque Lanigan American Legion Post 5 in Waterville; AMVETS; and the Waldoboro Senior Citizens.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by brothers, William and Jim Moore; and sister, Catherine Moore.
In addition to his loving wife of Waldoboro, he is survived by daughter, Diane Bousquet of Virginia; son, Craig Bousquet of Albany, N.Y.; step-son, Ronald Geyer of Bristol; sister, Louise Stone of Florida; brother, Charles Bousquet of Vermont; step-brother, John Moore of Alaska; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and kitty cat, “Mariah Rose.”
Service with military honors will be held at the convenience of his family. Interment will be in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta. Celebration of Mr. Bousquet’s life 2 p.m., Sat., July 24 at the Soule-Shuman V.F.W. Post, Mills St., Waldoboro.
