Perley “Jake” Creamer Jr. went to be with the Lord and his loving wife Joan on Dec. 24 with his children by his side. Jake was born on March 1, 1930 in Jefferson, the son of the late Perley O. Creamer Sr. and Estella L. Havener.
Jake attended local schools in Edgecomb (along with Joan where they met) during his younger years, and then on to high school at Lincoln Academy where he and Joan became high school sweethearts. After their school years, Jake and Joan would marry and work in the area for the rest of their lives, and raise three kids.
Jake began working at Clark’s Beverage for the late Chester Clark in his early years and would later move on to work at Yellowfront Grocery where he was a well-known figure for many years. As time went on, Jake and his wife decided to start their own cleaning business and performed janitorial services for many of the local businesses. Jake was a very well liked man.
He always enjoyed his family and friends to the fullest. He enjoyed his family more then anything, spending time with them and doing the husband, father and grandfather duties like no other man could have been asked to do. He loved laughter, and had been known to pull off a prank or two back in the days, especially around Halloween! He was a kind and thoughtful man, always making sure to “tip” the girls when buying his lottery tickets at various stores. You could always find him wondering around town most every day, picking up items here or there, or just out to pay a visit.
Jake was predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years, Joan (Pinkham) Creamer; brother, Douglas Creamer; sister, Ruth Martin; half-brothers, Hildreth Creamer, Byron Creamer, Michael Creamer, and Ira Sprague; and half-sisters, Florice Creamer, Libby Creamer and Joany Sprague.
Jake is survived by his three children, Kathleen Creamer of Damariscotta, Terri Geroux and husband Herb of Newcastle, and Mark Creamer and wife Kim of Damariscotta; special grandson, Cameron Creamer with whom he spent so much time doing all the things he loved to do; step-grandson, Jacob Snyder; step-granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Merissa Look; mother-in-law, Pearl Pinkham of Newcastle; step-mother, Ruth Creamer of Bath; half-brothers, Robert Creamer, Roland Creamer, Gary Creamer, and Oren “Bubba” Creamer; and half-sisters, Letha Creamer and Elaine Creamer.
