Perry A. Waltz, 75, of Fairfield, and formerly of Damariscotta, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, May 9, 2024. Born in Damariscotta on May 26, 1948, he was the son of Shirley (Banks) and Waldo Waltz.
Perry was a 1966 graduate of Lincoln Academy. After graduation he attended Maine Maritime Academy before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He served 10 months in Vietnam attached to a Marine Corps division as a medic. Following his tour of duty, Perry worked for a medical supply company before joining his father at Weeks-Waltz Motors in Newcastle for 27 years. Perry then worked at Cove’s Edge Nursing Home as a CNA and Strong Chevrolet in the parts department before retiring as manager from the Nobleboro-Jefferson Transfer Station. Perry also dedicated 10 years of service to the Damariscotta Fire Department and served as department chief.
Perry was an active member of the Damariscotta-Newcastle Lions Club, Wells-Hussey American Legion Post No. 42, as well as a member of the Fairfield Planning Board.
Perry is survived by his beloved partner, Mary Lou Moroney, and her children, Bridget West (Mark), Susan Moroney (Jeff), and Jane Moroney (Brad); grandchildren, Nicholas West, Emily West, Anna Nadeau, and Allie Nadeau; his sons, Joshua and Matthew (Hannah); and grandchildren, Elijah and Sebastian; sisters, Denise Morang and Debra Benner (Darrell); brother, Scott Waltz; several nieces, nephews, cousins; best friend, Norma; and his loyal cat, Charlie.
Perry’s family and friends will forever remember and miss his loving, kind, and generous spirit.
A time of visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home in Damariscotta. He will be laid to rest privately in the Hillside Cemetery in Damariscotta.
