Peter George Schaufus, 50, died on Sept. 8 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in California.
Peter was born in Waltham, Mass., grew up in Hudson, Mass. and lived in Clinton for many years before moving to California. He attended schools in Waltham, Mass. and Hudson, Mass. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. For many years he was self-employed.
He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was a member of Sheldon’s Worcester Hog group and went on many bike runs.
His passion was spending time up in the Allagash with his stepfather, whom he called Papi. He became a ham radio operator with the technician license KB1JXd in 2003.
He was predeceased by his father, Fred Schaufus in Florida.
Survivors include his children, Benjamin, Candace and Christopher Schaufus of Massachusetts; mother, Jane Benedetti and step-father, “Papi” Benjamin Benedetti of ME; sisters, Dawn Schaufus and family of Marlboro, Mass., and Mary Andre and family of Florida; brothers, Paul Schaufus and family of Colorado, and John Schaufus and family of California; stepbrothers, Joseph Benedetti and family of Arizona, and Matthew Benedetti and family of Massachusetts; and stepsister, Anita Stubbs and family of Oregon.
Visiting hours noon-2 p.m., Sat., Sept. 15 at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
