Peter John Hoyenski, 54, of Waldoboro, died at home of natural causes on Jan. 19.
Peter was one of a kind. Those who knew him would agree. He was a master stonemason and carpenter. He knew every aspect of building. He was also a superb athlete and guitarist. He often performed with his sister. He was a walking encyclopedia of history and had an opinion on every political event. He loved the military but was ineligible for service due to a congenital heart condition. He had an unflinching loyalty to family and friends.
When his family moved to Maine, Peter went also and took on the work of restoring two 19th century houses. He planned to settle his family and then build a house of his own. He loved the coast of Maine and spent many hours sitting and observing.
Peter is survived by his parents, Jeanie and Charles Hoyenski of Waldoboro; brothers, Charles Hoyenski of Austin, Tex., and Aaron Hoyenski of Waldoboro; sister, May Ellan Couch and husband John Couch of Bristol; nephews, Daniel and Wilbur Couch; nieces, Samantha and Roxanne Hoyenski of Kingman, Ariz.; among countless others, lifelong friends, Dale Yelvington, Greg Fagan, and Ben White; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
