Philena (Fifi) L. Richards died Jan. 7 while playing tennis in Damariscotta.
She was the daughter of Bradford and Philena Locke of Princeton, N.J.
She attended Princeton Day School, and graduated from St. Timothy’s School in Stevenson, Md. in 1946, and Vassar College in 1950.
She was married in 1951 and lived in Ridgefield, Conn. and Glastonbury, Conn. While in Glastonbury, Conn. she was active in helping to run the Glastonbury Pony Club and making pottery.
She and her husband moved to Newcastle in 1982. They were members of St. Andrew’s Church, Newcastle. She served for many years on the Altar Guild and was a volunteer at the Skidompha Library. A member of the Clamshell Quilters, her quilts were displayed nationally.
She is survived by her husband, Charles; daughters, Karin of Avalon Beach, Australia and Pamela of Portland; two sons-in-law; and four grandchildren.
Memorial service 2:30 p.m., Sat., Jan. 12 at St. Andrew’s Church, Newcastle.
