Philip A. Reed Jr., 89, of Friendship, died Jan. 4 at the Maine Veterans Home in Augusta. He was born Nov. 20, 1928 in Friendship to Philip A. Reed Sr. and Mildred Simmons Reed. Philip graduated from Waldoboro High School.
He worked as a lobsterman both on Crie Haven (Ragged Island) and Friendship until he retired. He enjoyed going to his house in Florida with his wife, Evelyn, and traveling.
Mr. Reed was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn Genthner Reed; brothers, Wendell Reed, and Wilbur Reed; daughter, Valerie Reed Simmons; her son, Shane; and son, Drew Reed.
He is survived by a brother, Robert Reed; and sons, Mark Reed and wife Cynthia, Wade Reed and wife Sherrie, Daniel Reed, Duane Reed, and Shawn Reed.
A graveside service to celebrate Philip’s life will be held at the Brookside Cemetery in Friendship to be announced at a later date.
