Phyllis C. Heald, 85, of Hope, died Oct. 20 at her home. Born in Camden on June 9, 1924, she was the daughter of Ernest S. and Ethel A. (Holbrook) Carleton. She was a 1942 graduate of Rockport High School, served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and attended Rockland Business School for two years. She was previously employed at Depositor’s Trust Company in Camden for several years.
Throughout her life, Mrs. Heald enjoyed keeping in touch with her childhood friends, hosting class reunions, and attending annual alumni banquets. In the mid 1990s she purchased land in Hope, designed a new home, and had it constructed by a local contractor. She very much enjoyed gardening and being a homemaker.
She was predeceased by her brother, Maurice H. Carleton who died in 1999.
Surviving is her daughter, Tina H. Torrey and fiancé Stephen E. Laskey of N. Whitefield; nieces, Catherine Carleton Clark of Rockport and Julia Carleton Pinelo of Rockland; and several cousins.
Memorial service 11 a.m., Sat., Oct. 31 at the Long Funeral Home, 9 Mountain St., Camden with the Rev. Linda Campbell Marshall officiating. Private interment will be held in the Carleton Cemetery in Rockport.
