Pieter C. Prins, 98, of Damariscotta, formerly of Tenants Harbor, passed away Feb. 9 at his home at Schooner Cove in Damariscotta.
Peter was born Aug. 12, 1909, in Rockanje, the Netherlands, the son of Jan P. and Christina Lacroix Prins.
After the usual European schooling, he completed his medical education studies at the University of Utrecht, specializing in ear, nose and throat surgery. He had a large practice in the town of Utrecht and area villages until his retirement at age 70. Dr. Prins was a dedicated physician who was available 24 hours of the day for emergencies.
His first wife, Helene Wolf-Prins, predeceased him in 1991.
Survivors include his second wife, Philippine M. Van Zwoll-Prins of Damariscotta; son, A. Jan Prins of Murden, the Netherlands; grandsons, Jan Pieter Prins and Thomas C. Prins of the Netherlands; four great-grandchildren; and stepdaughters, Adrienne M. Van Zwoll-Nelson of Pendleton, S.C. and Jacqueline J. Van Zwoll of Columbus, Ohio.
Services will be held in the Netherlands.
