Ralph A. Knight Jr. (Bud), of Jefferson, went home to be with the Lord at Good Shepherd Hospice House in Sebring, Fla. on Jan. 24 after being diagnosed with aggressive esophageal and lung cancer in December.
Bud was a devout Christian. He was born April 23, 1933 and with his seven siblings was raised in Belfast where he attended school. He served in the Army from 1953-1955. Bud retired from the State of Maine D.O.T in 1990. Since then he and his wife Charlotte have enjoyed traveling, visiting friends and family from Maine to Florida and taking trips to Washington state. Bud enjoyed playing guitar and singing country gospel music with family and friends at churches, country fairs and nursing home.
Bud will be sadly missed by his wife of 59 years, Charlotte (Lermond); sisters, Dot Young (George) of Rockland, Lucille Fuller of Murphy N.C., and Beverly Taylor of Anchorage Alaska; children, Elaine Stone Centralia of Washington, Susan Pease Waterbury (Frank) of Jupiter, Fla., and Jeffrey Knight (Lorie) of Windsor; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews; as well as many friends.
A memorial service will be held in Zolfo Springs, Fla.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to North Windsor Baptist Church or Jefferson Fire and Rescue.
