Ralph H. Turner, Sr., 84, passed away on June 8 at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta.
He was born July 18, 1923 in Harmony, a son of Perley Turner, Sr. and Alice Dart Turner. He attended schools in Athens, and picked potatoes in Aroostook County when he was a teenager.
In 1946, he married Ruth Flewelling.
He worked in the blueberry fields for Medomak Canning Company and later as a machine operator in the factory. He also worked in the Cotton Mill in Augusta, working on the winding machines. He later drove school buses for Waldoboro and drove trucks for the state on the tarring crews. He worked for Leland Johnson cutting wood.
He enjoyed bowling at Depatsy’s Lanes in Waldoboro where he was in a league and won many trophies. He enjoyed being home with his wife and family, and traveling to see his son in the many places he was stationed in Virginia, Colorado and Maryland.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ruby Turner, and several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by three daughters, Linda Linscott and husband Dave of Rockland, Barbara Hayden and husband Alton of Waldoboro, and Alice Turner and companion Harold C. Ralph, Jr. of Waldoboro; sons, Ralph Turner, Jr. and wife Claudia of Waldoboro, and Richard Turner of Rockland; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Time of visitation 6-8 p.m., Thurs., June 14 at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro.
Funeral 2 p.m., Fri., June 15 at Hall Funeral Home, with Pastor Thomas Rawley officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Washington.
