Ralph L. Simmons, 78, of Friendship, passed away on May 26 at Fieldcrest Manor in Waldoboro, following a long illness.
Born Dec. 30, 1928, he was a son of Ralph and Ruth (Harding) Simmons. He attended Friendship Village Schools, Coburn Classical Institute in Waterville, and graduated from Thomaston High School.
He was a lobsterman all his life.
He loved to travel and spent many winters in Florida. He also loved horse races.
He was predeceased by his parents, and by a brother, Alfred “Buddy” Simmons.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia J. (Tibbetts) Simmons of Friendship; sons, Bradley L. Simmons of Friendship, and Herbert R. Simmons of Waldoboro; sister, Florence Cushman of Friendship; brother, Donald Simmons of Friendship; 9 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Graveside service 2 p.m., Thurs., May 31 at the Harbor Cemetery in Friendship with Rev. Alan Chamberlain officiating.
