Rebecca May Quintal, 76, of Waldoboro, died Oct. 28 at her residence, after a period of failing health.
She was born in Dry Mills, which is a part of Gray, the daughter of George and Arlene Davis Edwards, and attended Pownal schools.
Rebecca was a self-made woman. She was a long time cook, for nearly 50 years, at the Rockport Diner. She loved dancing and spending time outdoors camping and tending her garden, and above all else caring for her family and tending to their needs.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Penny Quintal; sisters, Carol Cook and Marguerite Edwards; and brother, Clayton Edwards.
Survivors include sons, Louis Quintal and wife Beatrice of Waldoboro, David Quintal and wife Cindy of Macon, N.C., Philip Quintal and wife Madonna of Nobleboro, Anthony Quintal of Waldoboro, Matthew Quintal and wife Audrey of Oakland and Joseph Quintal and wife Virginia of Etna; daughters, Joyce Boyington and husband Donny of Waldoboro, Deborah Todd of St. George, and Arlene Adams and husband Doug of Warrentown, N.C.; 26 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; brothers, Roy Edwards, George Edwards and Walter Edwards; and sisters, Janie Hanlon, Annie Spaulding, Betty Mains, Winona Benoit and Charlotte Colby.
Celebration of Rebecca’s life 11 a.m., Sat., Nov. 13 at the Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro. Service of committal 1:30 p.m., Sun., Nov. 14 at the Elmwood Cemetery, Elmwood Road in Pownal.
