Richard Allyn Burton, of Bristol, died on April 1 peacefully at his home with his family by his side.
Richard was born in New London, Conn. Oct. 29, 1938. He graduated from Norwich Free Academy in Connecticut and was self-employed for most of his life in Connecticut, Florida and Maine. He was a very accomplished “jack of all trades,” known for his boundless ingenuity and expertise.
He faithfully served God to the end as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was an extremely devoted, loving husband, father and grandfather.
He was predeceased by daughter Teresa Jean Burton in 1976.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 49 years, Vyrell Hathaway Burton; sons, Rodney Burton and wife Valerie of Union and Michael Burton and companion Pam Seluke of Augusta; daughters, Crystal Trates and husband Tony of Bristol and Beth Halcomb and husband Jimmy of Broadway, N.C.; grandchildren, Owen Burton, Victoria Chadwick, Rebekah and Nathan Trates, Jonathan Weymouth, and Tyler Tardiff; and great-grandchildren, Jacob and Adam Tardiff.
Memorial service, 1 p.m., Sat., April 6, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 36 Eastern Ave., Augusta.
