Richard Bruce Wolf, 61, of Wiscasset, formerly of Jefferson, died peacefully at home on Aug. 30. He was born on Aug. 21, 1949 in Teaneck, N.J., a son of Harold and Dorothea (Leumann) Wolf.
He graduated from Bergenfield High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He served aboard the USS Belmont and was stationed at Adak in the Aleutian Islands as well as in Panama. Upon honorable discharge from the Navy he began working for New Jersey Bell in Rochelle Park, N.J. He attended Rutgers University in Newark, N.J., graduating with a Marketing degree while working full time for the telephone company.
After the Bell System break up, while working at AT&T, he attended M.I.T. taking classes on computer programming. As a manager, he held many positions within AT&T including those in Sales, Product Management and International Submarine Systems. Upon retirement from AT&T he fulfilled his dream of relocating to a farm in Jefferson. In 2001 he was employed by MBNA in Rockland and later by Microdyne in Augusta until the office relocated to Orono. He was also employed for several years in the produce department at Hannaford in Damariscotta. He attended Kennebec Valley Community College earning a certificate in Medical Coding. Since March 2007 he was employed by Bath Iron Works in Brunswick as an Electrical Designer, and moved to Wiscasset in 2009.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Britton of Wiscasset; mother, Dorothea Wolf of New Jersey; son, Christopher Wolf and wife Charisa of New Jersey; brother, Kevin Wolf and wife Terri of Pennsylvania; grandson, Dylan; granddaughters, Emily and Claire of New Jersey; nieces, Christina and Ashley; and nephew, Kevin John of Pennsylvania.
Graveside service Sept. 3 at Hopkins Cemetery in Jefferson.
