Richard “Hound Dog” C. Rackliff, 80, of Dresden, died after a long illness on May 14 at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta.
He was born in Rockland on Aug. 12, 1930, the son of Clarence and Lucy Rackliff.
Dick was a 40-year employee of Bath Iron Works, retiring in 1990. Dick was a longtime member of the Gardiner and Augusta Eagles Club.
He enjoyed playing pool, selling cars, van trips, and particularly spending time with his family and friends.
Dick was predeceased by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marjorie Rackliff of Dresden; daughters, Bonnie Delano and husband Dana of Dresden, Louann Pontau and husband Robert of Wiscasset, and Sonia Pearson and husband Timothy of Wiscasset; son, Richard Rackliff Jr. and wife Katie of Wiscasset; sister, Joan McCormick and husband Tom of Florida; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren with one more on the way.
Memorial service 1 p.m., Thurs., May 17 at Kincer Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Dresden.
Arrangements are under the care of Kincer Funeral Home, 130 Pleasant St., Richmond.
