Richard H. “Dick” Norton, 77, of Coopers Mills, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Oct. 27, surrounded by his loving family.
Born Oct. 15, 1930 in Augusta, he was the son of Henry L. and Gladys (Buker) Norton. He graduated from Cony High School, class of 1949.
He married Eugenia L. Moxcey of Waterville on Feb. 29, 1952. Together they raised six children.
Dick was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a man of his beliefs and instilled them in all of his children. A kind and generous man, he was always ready to help someone else. From his handshake to his hug, he was genuine and sincere. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
A jack-of-all-trades, master of many, he was a mechanic, a plumber, an oil burner man, a carpenter and electrician, all rolled into one. He was a collector of old and new. He had an eye for antiques, liked flea markets and worked for Robert L. Foster Antique Gallery.
He enjoyed hunting with his father, sons, and good friend, Ervin Ewen. He liked to dance, have a good time and tell stories of his life experiences. He liked to talk shop, politics and the American way. He had an opinion and was more than willing to share it.
He was predeceased by one of his children, Timothy L. Norton, on Jan. 3, 2006; his parents; and sister, Alicia Dwyer.
