Richard P. Jacobs, Sr., 81, of Waltham, Mass., died June 28 in Cambridge Hospital. Born in Damariscotta, Mr. Jacobs had lived in Waltham, Mass. for many years. He was a supervisor for the U.S. Post Office in Framingham, Mass. for 20 years until his retirement. Mr. Jacobs was a WWII, Korean, and Vietnam War veteran who served in the U.S. Navy. He was an avid fisherman.
Mr. Jacobs was the son of the late Paul and Gertrude (Feltis) Jacobs, the father of the late Randall D. Jacobs, and the brother of the late Sally Blake, Gordon and Robert Jacobs.
He is survived by his wife, Edith F. (Delphine) Jacobs; sons, Richard P. Jacobs, Jr. of Bolton, Mass., Ronald J. Jacobs of Uxbridge, Mass., Reynold Joseph Jacobs of Damariscotta, and Robert W. Jacobs of Walpole, Mass.; brothers, Roland Jacobs of Florida and Winton, Paul, and Bradley Jacobs all of Maine; sisters, Mary Gilman of Virginia and Linda Simmons, Pauline Dalton, and Patricia Hagar all of Maine; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Sat., July 12 at the Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main St., (Rte. 20), Waltham, Mass. Funeral service immediately following.
