Richard A. “Ricky” Tibbetts, 55, of Waldoboro, died Aug. 5 at his home. Ricky was born March 8, 1961 in Camden to Clifford and Roberta Swett Tibbetts. He grew up in Waldoboro and graduated from Medomak Valley High School in the class of 1979. He played on the baseball team while he was in high school.
He worked at Bath Iron Works as a welder for over 35 years. He loved watching NASCAR, baseball, and football. He was a true sports fanatic. He coached the Wildcats of the Waldoboro Little League back when his son Brandon played. He enjoyed playing softball with his daughter, Amanda, in the Waldoboro Fall Softball League.
Ricky was a loving homebody, who was humble and dedicated to his family and co-workers. He loved playing with the children in the family, and he was especially proud of his recently born twin granddaughters, Sophia and Liberty. He loved his cat, Coco. He loved working in his garden.
He was predeceased by father, Clifford A. Tibbetts, who died July 13, 2014.
He is survived by mother, Roberta Tibbetts of Waldoboro; daughter, Amanda Tibbetts and partner D.J. Camber of Waldoboro; son, Brandon Tibbetts and his fiancée Jessica Tukey of Nobleboro; sister, Debbie Merrifield and husband Fred of Waldoboro; twin granddaughters, Sophia and Liberty Camber of Waldoboro; nieces, Christina Bendtson of Appleton, and Elizabeth Grierson of Appleton; nephew, James Merrifield of Woburn, Mass., two great-nieces; and two great-nephews.
A service to celebrate Ricky’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Sun., Aug. 14 at the Shuman Cemetery, Route 220, Washington Rd. in Waldoboro.
