Robert A. Dostie, 77, of Augusta, died April 29 at the Veterans Administration Hospital at Togus after a brief illness. He was born in Augusta on April 7, 1929, to Henri Louis Dostie and Imelda (Boutin) Dostie. Bob graduated from Cony High School in the class of 1947. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Prior to his retirement, he owned and operated Quality Shoe Store on Water Street. He started working at Quality Shoe Store as a shoe salesman when he was a young man and eventuality became the owner of the store. He worked there for over 50 years. Bob was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, a life member of Abnaki Council #334 Knights of Columbus, a member and past Faithful Navigator of Abnaki Assembly #346 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Calumet Club. He was predeceased by his parents; stepmother, Germaine (Denault) Dostie; sister, Henrietta "Dot" Withers; and grandson, Thomas Dostie. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Priscilla (Dulac) Dostie of Augusta; son, Michael R. Dostie and wife Margaret of Somerville; four daughters, Susan Naegely and husband Thomas of Cushing, Kathleen A. Saucier and husband Lucien of Augusta, Lisa Cole and husband William C. of Sidney, and Theresa Crosby and husband Edward of Windsor; a special nephew, Norman Dulac of Augusta; seven grandchildren, Timothy Dostie, Kelley Glidden, Tracy Glidden, Tabitha Cole, Jacob Cole, Zachary Cole and Amber Crosby; and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Mon., May 1 at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta where members of Abnaki Assembly 4th degree Knights of Columbus are asked to meet at 5:30 p.m. to prepare for the honor guard, members of Abnaki Council Knights of Columbus are asked to meet at 6 p.m. for a prayer service, and members of the Calumet Club are asked to meet at 6:30 p.m. for a prayer service. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 9 a.m., Tues., May 2 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Augusta. Burial will be in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
