Robert David Allen Jr., of Woolwich, passed away on Oct. 5 at Horizons Living and Rehab Center in Brunswick. He passed of CHF and Diabetes issues.
Robert was born to Robert David Allen Sr. and Anna Marie Burgess Allen. He attended Woolwich Central School, playing baseball and basketball while there. He went on to attend Morse High School in Bath, graduating in the class of 1971. He attend a two-year trade school CMVTI in Lewiston to study carpentry. He worked in different areas around the state, building and renovations, until a snowmobile accident on Feb. 2, 1978. He became disabled and unable to do the type of work he wanted, he did build his home in Woolwich with the help of family and friends, where he lived until his health started to decline.
He enjoyed hunting and playing with the different black labs that he owned over 40 years. He tried to stay active as possible. Eventually due to declining health, he spent the past 11 years in various nursing facilitates.
He was predeceased by his parents; uncles; aunts; and four cousins; and Black Labs, the last two named Kate T. and Dr. Ruth.
He is survived by sister, Nancy Allen Truhel and husband Carl of Nobleboro; niece, Sarah Truhel Saucier and husband William of Waldoboro; nephew, Jeremy C. Truhel and wife Wendy of Greensboro, N.C.; grandnieces, Madeleine E, Truhel and Mina C. Truhel of Greensboro, N.C., and Zofia Saucier of Waldoboro; uncle, Clinton E. Davis of Woolwich; and many cousins.
Visiting hours will be 10-11 a.m., Thurs., Oct. 18 with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. at the David E. Desmond & Son Funeral Home, 638 High St., Bath.
In lieu of flowers, one may give to the Black Lab rescue (NorthEast); Coastal Humane Society; American Heart Association; Diabetes Association; or the charity of your choice.
