Robert E. Hentz, 73, loving husband of Mary J. (Scharn) Hentz died Dec. 1 at the Life Care Center of Merrimack Valley in Billerica, Mass.
He was born in Boston, April 29, 1936, the son of the late Clifford E. and Viola S. (Strang) Hentz and lived in Billerica for most of his life and enjoyed their second home in Damariscotta Mills.
Mr. Hentz started his 39 year employment for the Bedford School Department as a teacher and then was appointed to principal and had retired as the Assistant Superintendent of Schools in 1997. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Billerica having served as the former church moderator. He was a former Town Meeting Member and Chairman of the Finance Committee.
Mr. Hentz was predeceased by brothers, David and Richard, and sister, Ann Hentz.
Besides his wife, Mr. Hentz is survived by sons, Robert Hentz Jr. and companion Mary DaSilva, William Hentz and wife Michelle and Steven Hentz and wife Jean, all of Billerica, Mass.; twin sister, Leila Jenkins of Dracut, Mass.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Visiting hours 3-7 p.m., Fri., Dec. 4 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica, Mass. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Funeral arrangements will be private.
