Robert Howard Lawson, 75, died on Dec. 13 at Fieldcrest Manor in Waldoboro.
He was born on Dec. 7, 1932 in North Waldoboro, a son of G. Lyndon Lawson and Elsie Howard Lawson. He grew up in Waldoboro and attended local schools. As a young man he worked at Mank’s Saw Mill and he also raked blueberries.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He worked as a truck driver for many years. He transported seafood for Bay State Transportation, McLoon’s and Graffam Brothers. He traveled all over the United States and Canada. He enjoyed being on the road.
During his youth he was a pitcher on the Friendship town baseball team. He loved to go hunting. He also enjoyed going to Dollywood in Smokey Mountains, Tenn.
He was predeceased by nephew, John Dawson III and niece, Candace Dawson Blood.
He will be sadly missed by his dear friend, Stephanie.
He is survived by five children; sister, Esther Dawson and companion Douglas Wallace of Waldoboro; brothers, Lyndon “Bud” Lawson and wife Lynette of Waldoboro, and David Lawson and wife Barbara of Brewer; nieces: Angela Lawson of Brunswick, Jennifer Post of Waldoboro, Shannon Moyes of Gray and Kendra Dawson of Waldoboro; step-nieces, Alison Cohen and Shelly Cohen, both of Brewer; and step-nephew, Butch Cohen of Maryland.
A graveside service will be held in the spring in the Harbor Cemetery, Friendship.
