Robert Huson, 81, of Jefferson, died Jan. 7 at the Knox Center for Long Term Care in Rockland.
He was born, May 9, 1928 in Middletown, N.Y., a son of the late Christopher and Sara Ann (Finch) Huson.
Mr. Huson attended schools in Liberty and Washingtonville, N.Y. and graduated from high school in 1947. He served honorably in the U.S. Army. On Sept. 15, 1950, he married the former Mary Elizabeth Barry in Washingtonville, N.Y. Over the years he worked for Automobile Transport of Mawah, N.Y. and Washingtonville Central School, Washingtonville, N.Y. Mr. Huson was a 25 year member and former Fire Chief of Monell Engine Company, in Washingtonville, N.Y. where he was made an honorary lifetime member. He was an honorary member of the Rockland County, New York Firemen’s Association and a member of the Hudson Valley Firemen’s Association.
Mr. Huson loved to cook and collect stamps and work in his flowers and gardens at his beloved home in Maine.
In addition to his loving wife of more than 59 years of Jefferson, Mr. Huson is survived by daughters, Patricia Marie Graham and husband Douglas of Grahamsville, N.Y., and Susan Elaine Perrin of Rockland; grandchildren, Jessica Lynn Graham of Grahamsville, N.Y., and Justin Robert and Michael Patrick Perrin of Rockland; niece, Eileene Ruggio of Bloomingburg, N.Y.; and nephews, Michael and Eric Ruggio of Bloomingburg, N.Y.
Private services will be held at the convenience of his family.
Arrangements are under the direction of Smeltzer Family Cremation and Funeral Service, Waldoboro.
