Robert M. “Bobby” Simmons, Sr., 71, of Friendship, passed away April 24 at Maine Medical Center in Portland, following a brief illness.
Mr. Simmons was born March 28, 1936 in Damariscotta, the son of Irving and Florence Simmons. He attended Friendship schools.
He was employed by GTE Sylvania in Waldoboro for 38 years, where he made many good friends. After his retirement, he spent 14 years as a sternman with his son, Bobby. He enjoyed being on the water and talking with fellow lobstermen.
He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.
Survivors include his loving wife of 37 years, Mary Jane Simmons of Friendship; son, Robert Simmons, Jr. and wife Michelle of Friendship; daughter, Robin Koshak and husband James of Webster, N.Y.; adopted children, Tim Simmons and Susan Paulsen, both of Warren; grandchildren, Zachary, Buddy, Taylor, Katie and Joshua; sisters, Gwen Poland of Round Pond, Janice Lawson of Thomaston, and Linda Maloney-Robinson of Cushing; and sisters-in law, Peggy Reynolds and husband Philip of Friendship, Methyl Carlson of St. George, and Carla Myrick and husband Mike of Cushing.
Visiting hours 6-8 p.m., Fri., April 27 at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro.
Celebration of Bobby’s life 11 a.m., Sat., April 28 at the Friendship Advent Christian Church.
Interment will take place in the Village Cemetery, Friendship.
